Sixty seven year old Rampal, a self styled man convicted in court for murder cases in his own Ashram. The sentencing to announce on October 16-17.
Rampal has his huge fan following is now in Hisar Jail. He was arrested in November 2015 after a two week long stand-off between his followers and police. Rampal and 27 of his followers charged for the murder of four women and a child in his own ashram. They found dead in the Satlok Ashram in Hisar on November 19, 2014.
Rampal was born as Rampal Singh Jatin in Dhanana village of Sonepat district. His father was a farmer and mother was a housewife. He did diploma in Industrial Training Institute in Nilokheri, and then worked as a junior engineer in the Government of Haryana’s irrigation department. He married to Naro devi and blessed with two sons and two daughters. They used to live in the ashram until the siege.
According the biography, he needs to attain salvation which he was not able to. One day, he met Swami Ramdevanand from where he has learnt the actual technique of attaining salvation. He read many spiritual books like Bhagwad Gita, Kabir Sagar, Sat Granth by Garib Das, and “all the Puranas“.
In 1994, he started preaching his learning to the small villages of Rohtak. He got busy and thus left his job in 1995. The resignation officially accepted in 2000. He lived in Shastri Nagar, Rohtak with his two sons. Though two daughters had married. Then, In 2000 he established his own ashram in Rohtak and gained followers from Rohtak and Jhajjar.
In 2006, he came in controversies because of some illegal claims to the followers of Arya Samaj. Thus, conflict occur between the two and many have killed during the conflict. At that time, he was jailed for 22 months. Later, released on bail in 2008. He established his ashram in Barwala.
In 2015, Rampal got arrested from his 12 acre ashram land in Hisar stormed by Policemen. The days-long siege include devotees and the followers armed with stones, batons, and guns.
In August, he found not guilty of illegally confirming thousand of followers. Six people killed while protesting the arrest of Rampal. Hundreds injured as the devotees protested against the act of police.
Rampal considered as Kabir because of his followers and the people those have faith in him.
